Blue Star Line Web Site Updated (with errors!)

Clive Palmer’s official ‘Blue Star Line’ has been updated for a second time, since his March 2024 press conference. This is where he re-launched the Titanic II project. This time it is a much more comprehensive update.

Previously, there was six years of silence, as the web site last featured an update on December 2018.

I appreciate that the project was delayed by Covid-19 (in Mr. Palmer’s own words) but the web site never said so! It should have been the vehicle to keep the interested fans informed.

The web site now features information about many aspects of the ship and its onboard experience, including some details about the design, accommodation, dining and entertainment. However, there is little new information, for those that have been closely following the project. The renderings are the same ones as released early in the project. However, these updates do represent progress!

I subscribed to the web site years ago, but they still don’t send me any news e-mails. Do you get any?

The website now seems to feature some anomalies:

Pool & Gymnasium Section

(Text below from Blue Star Line website 26/04/24)

On Clive Palmer’s Titanic II, the pool and gymnasium facilities offer passengers the opportunity to indulge in both relaxation and fitness while cruising the open seas. Modelled after the luxurious amenities of the original Titanic, these areas are designed to provide guests with a blend of modern comfort and Edwardian elegance.

The onboard pool area, located on one of the upper decks, features a spacious swimming pool surrounded by ornate balustrades and elegant loungers. Passengers can enjoy leisurely swims or simply soak up the sun while admiring panoramic views of the ocean. Attentive attendants are on hand to provide towels and refreshments, ensuring a luxurious experience for all.

Adjacent to the pool, the gymnasium beckons passengers to maintain their fitness routines amidst the splendour of the sea. Equipped with state-of-the-art exercise machines, free weights, and cardio equipment, the gymnasium offers ample opportunities for guests to engage in invigorating workouts tailored to their preferences, to achieve their fitness goals while at sea.

After an energizing workout or refreshing swim, guests can unwind in the adjacent spa area, where a range of rejuvenating treatments await. From massages to facials, the spa offers a sanctuary of relaxation and pampering, allowing passengers to escape the stresses of daily life and indulge in luxurious self-care.

Whether seeking a leisurely dip in the pool, an invigorating workout in the gymnasium, or a tranquil spa experience, passengers aboard Titanic II can expect nothing less than the epitome of comfort and luxury. With its exquisite amenities and unparalleled service, the pool and gymnasium areas provide a sanctuary of wellness and relaxation amidst the enchanting backdrop of the open sea.

Malcolm says: BSL text: “The onboard pool area, located on one of the upper decks.…Passengers can enjoy leisurely swims or simply soak up the sun while admiring panoramic views of the ocean”.

Me: I though the pool was NOT on an upper deck, but deep within the hull (F Deck) as per the original Titanic? Therefore, it had no sea views or sun, it was enclosed, unless there been a major design change for Titanic II or just an error?

BSL Text:  “Adjacent to the pool, the gymnasium…”

Me: They were NOT adjacent on the original Titanic. The Gym was on the boat deck (A deck) and pool was five decks below on F deck.

BSL Text: “Equipped with state-of-the-art exercise machines…”

Me: I had assumed that the gym equipment would be reto-style. Am I wrong?

BSL Text: “..the pool and gymnasium areas provide a sanctuary of wellness and relaxation amidst the enchanting backdrop of the open sea”.

Me: On the original Titanic the pool did NOT have sea views, being deep within the hull.

BSL Text: “After an energizing workout or refreshing swim, guests can unwind in the adjacent spa area”.

Me: The original’s Titanic had a Turkish bat. It was NOT a ‘Spa’ as such. It was not located near the gym, but low down in the hull (F Deck) near the bathing pool.

The text appears to be written about the ‘standard’ facilities onboard a modern cruise ship and NOT a replica Titanic. There are other anomalies, in other sections of the web site’s text, too.

I wrote to the ‘Blue Star Line’ pointing these anomalies out to them, on 26/04/24, mind you I will hold hold my breath.
